Truck movement limits and timing

Heavy vehicles in Abu Dhabi face peak-hour movement restrictions on the island and on some main roads. A truck that arrives at the wrong time can end up waiting with its engine running and its load warming. We schedule deliveries around these windows, which is also why many of our truck runs happen overnight or early in the morning.

Port and free-zone pick-ups

Chilled import cargo moving out of Khalifa Port, KIZAD and Mina Zayed often waits at gates and docks. We pre-cool the truck before it joins the queue and plan the pick-up so the load goes straight into a cold body and straight onto the road.

Pallets need airflow, not just cold

A chiller truck cools by moving air around the load. Pallets packed against the front wall, stacked to the ceiling or wrapped with no gaps block that airflow, and the middle of the load warms first. We load with space at the front bulkhead and below the ceiling so cold air reaches every pallet.

Distances across the largest emirate

A Musaffah to Al Ain run is around 140 km, and Ruwais is further still. On routes this long the refrigeration unit must run continuously, and the truck should make as few stops as possible. We plan routes accordingly.

When do I need a chiller truck instead of a chiller van?

Choose a chiller truck when your load is palletised, when it is more than a large van can carry, or when you are moving bulk stock between a port, warehouse or cold store and a distribution centre. For smaller multi-drop routes with loose cartons, a chiller van is usually faster and cheaper.

What temperature does a chiller truck hold?

A chiller truck holds a set point between 0 °C and +8 °C, suitable for fresh produce, dairy, beverages, fresh meat and fish, flowers and most pharmaceuticals. For goods that must stay frozen, you need a freezer truck at −18 °C.

Does the chiller truck come with a driver?

Most chiller trucks are rented with one of our drivers, who are trained in cold-chain handling and familiar with Abu Dhabi truck routes and loading bays. If you want to use your own driver, they must hold the correct UAE licence for the vehicle — ask us when you book.
